one: i thought i explained in my apology that i did not mean to imply that anyone in seether has aids but that all human beings that engage in sexual activities have the possibility of having aids if they do not know their partner's sexual history. actually the main point i wanted to make was that mel's comment about me being low enough to want to sleep with the band was moot. i don't sleep with anyone other than my husband.

two: yes i felt offended that seether were unprofessional enough to not say hey by the way this is a kick ass song from nirvana. they obviously like at least one nirvana song and should have some freaking respect. why is that so hard for you to understand? it's not their song. if they choose to play it they should say whose song it is. it's simply respectful and professional. they are slightly famous now and should be slightly professional in their performance. the end.

here's the bottom line, seeing as how your opening statement about being responsible doesnt deserve considering, except for us who like to argue. Definitely doesnt merit even a thought by the band.

simply put, if anyone does not know "You Know You're Right"-- the freaking HUGE lost track from Nirvana, possibly the most influential band of the 90's and one of the all-time greats.....

then they are probably not going to be buying a lot of records or telling everyone "hey you should check out this band called Seether, they have this cool song called You Know You're Right".

P.S. you will be hard pressed to find a band who doesnt do a cover from time to time, as a sort of tribute. and guess what, they dont announce the original artist. it's your responsibility to know. and if you dont, your loss.

sorry to return after you apologized. but pearl jam covers multiple songs each show without usually mentioning the original artist. sometimes they will... but rarely.

i dont believe they (pearl jam) are a 'third rate crappy band' as you say, nor do i believe seether is.

also, i saw rage cover "f@ck the police" and they didn't send a shout out to NWA. its a matter of preference.

you should be happy that they paid tribute to a band you admire so much... so, you see, you and seether have stuff is common.

I can't even count how many bands I have seen that have performed songs from other artists and never mentioned it. Fuck, anyone with a good ear for music usually knows when another song is being covered. This whole "give respect" shit is down right silly. This entire thread is just a waste of space. Just another person who thinks their 'opinion' is all that matters.

This is good readin'!

I'm sure that if there are folks out there that do NOT know "You know you're right" is originally a Nirvana song, then they are probably too young or weren't into that particular type of music. It's not necessary to mention who the song was by originally. *I* know what song it is when I hear it...and I know it's a tribute...so I think that's all that's really necessary.

I'd like to have heard the crowd after they started playing it. I know when I saw them in Grand Prairie, the crowd went CRAZY. So even if 1/4 of the crowd didn't know that song, the other 3/4 did and that's what matters. The band is paying their respects in their own way thanking Nirvana for the influence and great music, they don't need to explain to anyone.

That's just my take on this whole situation.
